Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has expressed displeasure that those in government were among people inciting citizens to cause mayhem in the State.
Governor Emmanuel was speaking today at this month's edition of Akwa Ibom Youths Prayer Conference organized through the office of his Senior Special Assistant on Youths Matters, Mr. Aniefiok Wilson Iwaudofia.
At the service, which took place at The Apostolic Church, Use Offot, Uyo, the State's Chief Executive who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, described as unpatriotic, a situation where those who have benefitted from the Government but cannot extend love to their fellow brothers and sisters in need are bent on inciting residents against government.
Governor Emmanuel pointed out that he would not be in office forever, saying by 2023, he would be out of the Government House.
He emphasized the need for the people of Akwa Ibom to protect the image and future of the State by shunning divisive tendencies, hatred and jealousy among one another.
"90 per cent of those in government are young people. This means that the present administration is youth friendly and any youth can rise to any length in life with determination and commitment. Those who are destroying properties do not know what they are doing. If you destroy Akwa Ibom, then you will have no place to stay." He said.
Governor Emmanuel commiserated with the families of the victims of the ENDSARS protests, saying it was not Government's intention to lose any soul of Akwa Ibom citizens.
According to him, government would do everything possible to ensure the protection of lives and property, even as he appealed to the residents to adhere strictly to the dusk to dawn curfew in the State to help government track down on those making life difficult for others.OMOKOSHABAN
