A Ghanaian man has been arrested for allegedly pouring hot water on the breasts of his breastfeeding wife.

The man identified as Emmanuel Opoku was apprehended by men of the Enugu State Police command for maiming his wife, Chiamaka.

Following a report to Women Aid Collective (WACOL) on 9th July,2020, that a man had poured hot water on the breasts of his breastfeeding wife at Akwuke, Enugu, the Police swung into action and got him arrested.

On interrogation, the victim said that her husband abuses her physically and verbally regularly. She added that he is in the habit of torturing her and denying their two children of the basic necessities.

She said that this ugly incident occurred when  she requested for money for food for the family. He refused and went ahead to pour hot water on her breasts while she was making pap for their 3 months old baby.

She revealed that she has been in excruciating pains, adding that her breasts bleed profusely whenever she tries to breastfeed the baby.
