A man in Bauchi State has been apprehended for allegedly defiling 8 minors.
A 28-year-old man identified as Gwanda Amos, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly defiling eight minors aged between four and eight.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili said that one female identified as Roseline Taimako, 35, and seven others jointly reported at the Tafawa Balewa Divisional Headquarters that sometime in April, they noticed unusual and abnormal behaviour from their daughters (names withheld).
According to Wakili, when the complainants questioned their children, they discovered that the suspect had allegedly been defiling them.
He said that Taimako reported that the children often cried of pains from their genitals each time they were having their bath. The PPRO said,
“Upon inquiry, the first complainant’s child revealed to her that it was their uncle, named Gwanda Amos, 28, of the same address, who usually called them into his room and forcefully had sexual intercourse with them.
She added that her daughter told her the suspect threatened to kill them if they disclosed the matter.
Hence, she contacted other parents and they had the same experience. The suspect was immediately arrested.”
The police spokesman also noted that another complainant reported that his seven-year-old daughter was defiled by one Usman Mohammed in his Tudun Salmanu, Bauchi house.
“On June 16, 2020 around 11am, one Hamza Idris of Tudun Salmanu Bauchi reported that on the same date around 10am, one Usman Mohammed, of the same address, had carnal knowledge of his daughter in his house.
Upon receipt of the information, a patrol team attached to the division swung into action and got the suspect arrested and he equally confessed to the crime,” Wakili said.
