Revealed: Why I Inaugurated Eket action committee on Covid-19 – Frank Archibong

The Chairman Eket Local Government Council, Mr.Frank Archibong has revealed that the reason why he inaugurated the Eket Action Committee on COVID-19 was to consult with other stakeholders and well meaning sons and daughters of Eket Local Government Area in order to birth the idea of touring the eleven Wards and ninety-eight units of the Local Government Area, with a view to sensitizing and educating the people on the impacts, effects and prevention of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic as well as donate food items to cushion the effects of hunger occasioned by the lockdown order by government on the people. Mr. Archibong disclosed this when he spoke exclusively with newsmen on Saturday at the council secretariat in Eket.

The Eket council boss said that his action was triggered by the panic created by the deadly corona virus which has caused global lockdown in economic, social, religious, educational and other activities, the world over. His words:

“This pandemic came with a scare, and even as at now, the whole world is locked down as a result of the pandemic. In order not to allow the pandemic meet us unprepared as a community, we had to think outside the box, hence, the constitution of the Eket Action Committee on COVID-19.”

He used the opportunity to appreciate well meaning sons and daughters of Eket Local Government Area at home and in the Diaspora who have contributed in cash and in kind to help cushion the effects of the COVID-19 scourge on the people. He thanked members of the sensitization committee for their efforts in reaching out to the grassroots to spread the message of the ravaging corona virus, and prayed God to bless each and every one of them.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate everyone who has made very useful donations that has helped to cushion the effects that the COVID-19 scourge has brought on us…. Indeed, they are the real heroes as far as Eket Local Government Area is concerned”, Hon. Frank Archibong acknowledged.

The Eket helmsman observed that COVID-19 pandemic has really exposed the plights of the grassroots members to the leadership of the area, and promised that as a council, they will stop at nothing, to do their very best in ensuring that the vulnerable persons in Eket are well taken care of.
