The acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, has expressed satisfaction on the operations of the Commission’s Ibadan Zonal Office.
The Ibadan Zonal Head of the Commission, Friday Ebelo, delivered the EFCC boss’ commendation during an early morning meeting with the Officers on Friday, December 20, 2019.
The special recognition elicited thunderous applause and wild jubilation among the officers who apparently felt honoured.
“The Chairman called me yesterday. He asked me to thank you for your efforts. He said you have done well and that he is very proud of you,” Ebelo said during the meeting.
He, however, charged the officers to take the commendation as a challenge to propel them to do more in 2020.
“For me, we should rather take that message as a burden and challenge. We can’t afford to rest on our oars. To whom much is given, much is expected. We can’t take this kind of message and go to sleep. It is a clarion call on us to fasten our belts as we go into the new year. We must work better as a team, and harder as individuals to deliver much better in 2020 and beyond.
Our stand by this time next year will determine whether we merit that thumb up or not. In order not to make this year’s success an accident, we must strive to improve our record next year, and be determined to always get better,” he counseled.
Ebelo also disclosed that the zone has secured more ten convictions in addition to the 171 declared during the International Anti-Corruption Day Walk held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
“We are on 181 now,” he said with a ting of pride.
