Chamber of the Nigeria Senate today was thrown into uncontrolled jubilation when lawmakers rose in applause of Kogi Central Senator, Dr Yakubu Oseni for the success of the just concluded election in the state.
The lawmakers who extolled the political dexterity of Senator Oseni particularly expressed joy with the level of acceptance of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi Central, which they argued translated to geometric increase in voters' turn out.
While congratulating Senator Oseni, the Senate President, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan commended the leadership of the APC in Kogi State for engaging in purposeful and issue-based campaigns which resulted to the overwhelming victory of the party.
Also, the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu commended Senator Oseni for his rare style of politicking which he said is devoid of blackmail and desperation which characterized campaign activities of the opposition parties in the build up to the election.
He added that the people of Kogi Central have made a reasonable decision of giving mandate to a man of unquestionable character like Senator Oseni.
Senator Oseni who in his response lamented that Kogi State was given bad publicity by politicians of the old order, encouraged them to visit the Confluence state to have first experience of the developmental strides of Governor Yahaya Bello in the last four years.
"The old guard who previously held the state in captivity with tribal bigotry are definitely not happy with the new political ideology of inclusiveness and merit which the young Governor introduced.
"They made an attempt to reintroduced the divisive tribal tendency by hitting up the polity but the people have grown beyond such myopic prism, hence the resounding victory of our great party", he remarked.
