Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) is an infection of the female reproductive organs. It usually occurs when sexually transmitted bacteria spread from your vagina to your uterus, fallopian tubes or ovaries.
These infections can lead to scarring in the reproductive tract, and ultimately, infertility. Along with a change in vaginal discharge, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and fever, PID can also make your period irregular.
The primary symptom is pain in the lower abdomen. It may be so mild that you hardly notice it, or so strong that you may not even be able to stand. You may feel tightness or pressure in the reproductive organs, or an occasional dull ache.
Signs and symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease might include:
Pain in your lower abdomen and pelvis.
Heavy vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odor.
Abnormal uterine bleeding, especially during or after intercourse, or between menstrual cycles.
Pain or bleeding during intercourse.
Fever, sometimes with chills.
The surest way to know for sure if you have PID is to see a doctor. Doctors can usually find out if youhave PID by doing a pelvic exam. You may also be tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and other infections, because they often cause PID.
Recommended Intramuscular/Oral Regimens:
Consult with your doctor before taking any of these.
Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM in a single dose. …
Doxycycline 100 mg orally twice a day for 14 days.
Metronidazole 500 mg orally twice a day for 14 days.
Cefoxitin 2 g IM in a single dose and Probenecid, 1 g orally administered concurrently in a single dose.
How long do symptoms of pelvic inflammatory disease take to clear up? Normally, PID symptoms will clear up after taking antibiotics for 10 to 14 days. Severe cases may need hospital treatment. Your doctor (or sexual health clinic) may want to see you after three days to make sure that the antibiotics are working.
1.Garlic is very effective in treating pid
Eat garlics (like 2-3 cloves) every morning on empty stomach. After which you drink a glass of warm water. To this continuously for 1 month.
30minutes after drinking the warm water, add 1 teaspoon of tumeric to 1 cup of hot milk and drink.
Additionally, you must do away with sugary food/products.
Also, garlic does have proven antifungal properties and has been shown to fight the growth of yeast, which may make it beneficial during antibiotic treatment for chlamydia. Antibiotics increase the risk of yeast infections.
